Air merupakan sumber kehidupan di bumi. Sungai adalah salah satu sumber air yang dapat dijangkau oleh manusia untuk kebutuhan sehari – hari. Saat ini sungai Porong tercemar akibat banyaknya buangan limbah industri dan sebagai tempat pembuangan lumpur Sidoarjo. Hal ini menyebabkan sungai tercemar berat. Dari hasil uji awal sungai Porong diperoleh hasil uji parameter TDS, COD, Kekeruhan, dan logam Cd berturut – turut yaitu 2653 mg/l, 76 mg/l, 373 NTUs, dan 3 mg/l yang dalam hal ini kadar TDS, Kekeruhan, dan logam Cd jauh berada di atas baku mutu yang ditetapkan oleh Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan RI No. 32 Tahun 2017. Untuk mengurangi bahan pencemar tersebut, diambil solusi dengan menggunakan teknologi pengolahan air dengan kombinasi Filtrasi Zeolit, Karbon Aktif, dan Reverse Osmosis. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui perbedaan variasi kombinasi Zeolit dan Karbon aktif dalam menurunkan parameter TDS, COD, Kekeruhan, dan Logam Cd pada air sungai Porong, Kecamatan Porong, Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Dalam penelitian ini, air baku akan melewati housing filter kombinasi zeolit dan karbon aktif dengan waktu tinggal satu jam, kemudian dipompa menuju ke membran RO. Hasil air produk olahan akan menjadi air bersih. Dalam penelitian ini, diperoleh variabel terbaik untuk menurunkan TDS yaitu karbon aktif 75%: zeolit 25% dengan efisiensi penurunan 1363 mg/l (51,38%); COD yaitu karbon aktif 25%: zeolit 75% dengan efisiensi penurunan sebesar 51 mg/l (67,11%); kekeruhan yaitu karbon aktif 50%: zeolit 50% dengan efisiensi penurunan sebesar 366 NTUs (98,12%); dan Cd pada variabel 3 yaitu karbon aktif 25%: zeolit 75% dengan efisiensi penurunan sebesar 2,997 (99,91%).

Water is the source of life on earth. The river is one of the sources of water that can be reached by humans for their daily needs. Currently the Porong river is polluted due to the large amount of industrial waste dumped and as a disposal site for Sidoarjo mud. This causes the river to be heavily polluted. From the initial test results for the Porong river, the test results for the parameters TDS, COD, Turbidity, and Cd metal were 2653 mg/l, 76 mg/l, 373 NTUs, and 3 mg/l, in this case the levels of TDS, Turbidity, and Cd metal is far above the quality standards set by the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 32 of 2017. To reduce these contaminants, solutions are taken using water treatment technology with a combination of Zeolite Filtration, Activated Carbon and Reverse Osmosis. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in variations in the combination of Zeolite and Activated Carbon in reducing the parameters COD, TDS, Turbidity, and Cd Metal in Porong river water, Porong District, Sidoarjo Regency. In this study, raw water will pass through a combination of zeolite and activated carbon filter housing with a residence time of one hour, then be pumped into the RO membrane. The result of processed product water will be clean water. In this research, the best variable for reducing TDS was obtained, namely 75% activated carbon: 25% zeolite with a reduction efficiency of 1363 mg/l (51.38%); COD, namely 25% activated carbon: 75% zeolite with a reduction efficiency of 51 mg/l (67.11%); turbidity, namely 50% activated carbon: 50% zeolite with a reduction efficiency of 366 NTUs (98.12%); and Cd in variable 3, namely 25% activated carbon: 75% zeolite with a reduction efficiency of 2.997 (99.91%).
