Abstract

The open unemployment rate is the percentage of the number of unemployed to the total workforce. The cause of open unemployment is the mismatch between the skills of workers and the needs of the company. This often happens to fresh graduates or recent graduates from college. This study aims to determine the best panel data regression model in the case of factors that influence the total open unemployment rate in East Nusa Tenggara Province from 2020-2022. The data used is data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics for East Nusa Tenggara Province. The response variables used are the labor force participation rate, human development index, average wages, population density, and the number of tourist attractions. The results of this study indicate that the fixed effect model is a panel data regression model that is suitable for the case of the open unemployment rate in East Nusa Tenggara Province from 2020-2021. The independent variable that influences the total open unemployment rate is the variable population density with a coefficient of determination (R
