Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis kesalahan dan faktor penyebab peserta didik melakukan kesalahan dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika pada pokok bahasan materi sistem persamaan linear tiga variabel. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMA Hang Tuah 4 Surabaya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini dipeproleh dari hasil tes dan wawancara. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah 32 orang peserta didik kelas X-5 SMA Hang Tuah 4 Surabaya dan peneliti mengambil tiga peserta didik dengan nilai paling rendah untuk dijadikan subjek penelitian. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar tes dan pedoman wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelian yang telah dilakukan peneliti dalam penelitian ini, kesalahan yang dilakukan peserta didik dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika adalah : (a) kesalahan memahami masalah, (b) kesalahan menyiapkan rencana, (c) kesalahan melaksanakan rencana, dan (d) kesalahan memeriksa kembali jawaban. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini juga, diketahui faktor penyebab peserta didik melakukan kesalahan antara lain, peserta didik tidak memahami soal cerita yang diberikan, peserta didik masih tidak bisa menerapkan metode apa yang digunakan untuk memecahkan soal, peserta didik tidak teliti pada proses perhitungan, dan didik terburu-buru dalam mengerjakan soal sehingga tidak bisa memeriksa kembali jawaban dan menuliskan kesimpulan akhir.

This study aims to describe the types of errors and factors that cause students to make mistakes in solving math word problems on the subject matter of a system of three-variable linear equations. This research was conducted at SMA Hang Tuah 4 Surabaya. The research method used in this research is qualitative research. The data in this study were obtained from the results of tests and interviews. The data sources in this study were 32 students in class X-5 SMA Hang Tuah 4 Surabaya and the researchers took three students with the lowest scores to be the research subjects. The research instruments used in this study were test sheets and interview guides. Based on the results of research that has been done by researchers in this study, the mistakes made by students in solving math word problems are: (a) mistakes in understanding the problem, (b) mistakes in preparing plans, (c) mistakes in carrying out plans, and (d) mistakes in checking return answer. Based on the results of this study, it is known that the factors that cause students to make mistakes include, students do not understand the story problems given, students still cannot apply what methods are used to solve problems, students are not careful in the calculation process, and students in a hurry in working on the problem so that it cannot check back the answers and write the final conclusion.
