Abstract

Mikroplastik merupakan sampah plastik yang mengalami degradasi di perairan yakni terurai menjadi partikel-partikel kecil. Masuknya mikroplastik dalam tubuh biota air dan manusia dapat merusak saluran pencernaan, mengurangi tingkat pertumbuhan, menghambat produksi enzim, mempengaruhi reproduksi, dan dapat menyebabkan paparan aditif plastik lebih besar sifat toksik. Selain itu, mikroplastik juga berbahaya bagi keseimbangan ekosistem dan lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya kandungan mikroplastik pada air sungai Tambak Wedi Surabaya. Terdapat banyak area dengan berbagai macam aktivitas manusia meliputi pemukiman, industri, pengasapan, pemancingan ikan, dan perdagangan di sekitar Sungai Tambak Wedi. Pengambilan sampel air dilakukan di 7 stasiun. Pengujian sampel dilakukan di laboratorium Ecoton, Gresik. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dimana hasil identifikasi kandungan mikroplastik dalam air ditampilkan dalam bentuk foto hasil mikroskopi dan disajikan secara deskriptif. Kelimpahan mikroplastik di air sungai Tambak Wedi memiliki total sebanyak 24.800 partikel/m3 dengan kelimpahan tertinggi berada di stasiun 5 sebanyak 8.300 partikel/m3 dan terendah di stasiun 7 yaitu 1.900 partikel/m3. Bentuk yang paling banyak ditemukan adalah filamen dan yang paling sedikit adalah pellet. Warna yang berhasil diidentifikasi terdapat total 18 warna, paling banyak ditemukan adalah warna biru sebanyak 90 partikel. Indeks polusi mikroplastik memiliki nilai rata-rata Pollution Load Index 25,66 partikel/liter yang tergolong dalam kategori III (tinggi) karena berada diantara 20-30 partikel/liter.

Microplastics are plastic debris that degrades in the water by breaking down into small particles. The entry of microplastics in the body of aquatic biota and humans can damage the digestive tract, reduce growth rates, inhibit enzyme production, affect reproduction, and can cause greater exposure to plastic additives toxic properties. In addition, microplastics are also harmful to the balance of ecosystems and the environment. This study aims to determine the presence of microplastic content in Tambak Wedi Surabaya river water. Along the Tambak Wedi river, there are many areas with various human activities including housing, industry, smoking, fishing, and trade. Water sampling was conducted at 7 stations and sample testing was carried out at the Ecoton laboratory, Gresik. This research is a descriptive qualitative study where the results of the identification of microplastic content in water are displayed in the form of photos of microscopy results and presented descriptively. The abundance of microplastics in Tambak Wedi river water has a total of 24.800 particles/m3 with the highest abundance at station 5 of 8.300 particles/m3 and the lowest at station 7 of 1.900 particles/m3. The most common form found was filament and the least was pellet. The colors that were successfully identified were a total of 18 colors, the most commonly found was blue with 90 particles. The microplastic pollution index has an average Pollution Load Index value of 25.66 particles/liter which is classified in category III (high) because it is between 20-30 particles/liter.
