Abstract

Many difficulties are often experienced by students in reading or in terms of reading comprehension, students often feel lazy, find it difficult to find the essence in reading, lack motivation in reading, and lack of vocabulary in students. Teaching reading comprehension of English is important to be taught at all levels of education, providing resources for students, facilities, and methods used by teachers are absolute requirements for the success of learning English at school. This research aims at exploring the EFL students’ perception of utilizing the Quizizz platform on the student’s reading comprehension.
This research uses descriptive qualitative method, so that it uses case studies. In addition, the researcher conducted this research within the study limited cases or small scale. The source of the data in this study were students from one of the high schools in Sidoarjo, that is SMA Antartika. Researcher used semi-structured interviews to obtain data deeper than the participants. The participants of this study were five students from grade 10. Researcher used thematic data analysis to interpret the data transcribed from interview.
Students' perceptions of using Quizizz as a learning media in class are interested in the lesson, they become more motivated and find it easier to understand narrative text material. This study obtained results from interviewing students, and they perceived that Quizizz media could help students’ vocabulary, stimulative student’s critical thinking, and Quizizz as a joyful learning media on student’s reading comprehension.
