Abstract

Wattpad is an online literacy application that anyone can access and read for free anytime and anywhere. In this case, it can be used as media to motivate students to write narrative text. This study aims to describe Wattpad’s role in motivating secondary school students to write a narrative text. This research used a qualitative case study approach where the researcher interviewed three students of 11th grade in SMA Negeri 1 Wringinanom in the academic year 2022/2023. The study results showed that Wattpad's role is very influential in motivating secondary school students to write a narrative text. It can help students develop their imagination and find new vocabularies through narrative stories read by students on the Wattpad application. The study also suggests that students with writing talent can develop their talents in this application so that many people can recognize and read their writing.
